Castle of the Counts of Cabra

The oldest district of Cabra, site of the ancient Licabrum, primitive Iberian village that would later become Egabro. This neighborhood houses the remains of the Arab wall, as well as the Parish of la Asunción y Ángeles and the Castle of the Counts of Cabra.

The walls are about 2.6 metres wide. Regarding the towers, two of them are well known and so is the location of two others, which is shown on the sides of the current entrance to the enclosure. In the middle of the east wall and protruding from it is the keep. The plan is almost square and it is just over 20 metres tall. At about 11m from the current ground level, there is a square chamber with an octagonal dome supported by squinches. The remaining tower is in the northeast corner. It is also square in its plan and about 10 metres high. At present the enclosure houses the convent-school of the Escolapias.
