Paleochristian basilica of Coracho

14900 - Lucena (Córdoba)
The project allowed the recovery of one of the first Constantinian basilicas of Hispania and the basic pillar for the knowledge and dissemination of the origin of Christianity in the Iberian Peninsula. The Interpretation Center of the Basilica and the Origin of Christianity was inaugurated in 2008, recovering and valuing this important site that appeared in the Cortijo Coracho (Coracho Farmhouse Site). The basilica church, associated with a necropolis, has a chronology from the 4th to the 7th centuries. Its origin goes back to the first moments of imperial legalization of Christianity in the Constantinian era, first half of the fourth century. The visit to the Interpretation Center allows us to contemplate a central nave separated from the sides by columns and choir, a semi-circular western apse with a priestly bench inside, a baptistery or exempt mausoleum at the feet and a rectangular apse on its eastern side. * Visit included in the tourist activity "Lucena Ancestral", more information on the phone: 957 503662 or www.tuhistoria.org.
