The Contemporary Spanish Landscape Center "Antonio Povedano" was created in 1996 by the City Council of Priego, in homage to Antonio Povedano, who had promoted the activities of the "Free School of Plastic Arts of Priego de Córdoba" years before. ".

It is dedicated in a monographic way to the genre "landscape" and presents different ways of seeing and interpreting the landscape through the work of some of the best Spanish specialists of this genre.

The figurative tendency is represented by the realism of Amalia Avia or José Lapayese, the magical meaning of José Hernández or the expressive and colorful reinterpretation of Agustín Redondela, Vaquero Palacios, Manuel Capdevila and Agustín Úbeda among others. The works of painters such as José Abad, Molina Montero, Antonio Suárez and José Vento are closer to abstraction.

The Center organizes exhibitions and cycles of conferences on Art, Landscape and Tourism. The second phase of this Center is currently being prepared, whose monographic theme makes it unique in Spain.

The rooms occupied by the Antonio Povedano Art Center of the Contemporary Spanish Landscape were designed and built under the direction of Architect Javier Calvo Pozo.
