Corpus Christi means 'Body of Christ' in Latin. This feast commemorates the institution of the Holy Eucharist on Holy Thursday in order to give the Eucharist a public and solemn worship of adoration, love and gratitude. This is why it was celebrated in the Latin Church on the Thursday after Holy Trinity Sunday. For the majority of the people of Carcabul, Corpus Christi means effort, the effort of an entire people, big and small, men and women, working under the hot sun of May, in the making of the more than one thousand meters of multicolored sawdust carpet, along the entire route, which at dusk the body of Jesus performs in the streets of our town, also means sharing, the succulent breakfast miller, molletes with oil, offered every year by the Denomination of Origin Priego de Córdoba, also means collaboration, of each one and of the community in favor of a single end that the Corpus shines in Carcabuey. This is the corpus in Carcabuey, where thanks to the effort of the Town Hall, we have a thousand flowerpots in the streets. Where, thanks to the good work of several local artists, three magnificent carpets enhance the route of the procession in the streets Virgen, Las Angustias and Pletil. Where, thanks to those people who bring their motorbike and their lack of sleep, the sawdust is spread out at seven in the morning. Where the members of each brotherhood, association or group work to decorate the assigned streets. Where the monstrance looks even more divine, thanks to the flowers that so beautifully adorn it year after year. Where the procession is a faithful reflection of the religiousness of a town, but at the same time it is one of the most marvellous aesthetic manifestations of those that mark the Carcabuelan calendar.
