Since the dawn of the 17th century the festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, are held on August 15.

In those years the Brotherhood organized the religious celebrations, that consisted of a novena, the days previous to the celebration held on the 15th. After the celebration, the image of Ntra. Sra. Del Carmen was processed, accompanied by music and dance.

Currently, the celebrations that the Archicofradía of Ntra. Sra. Del Carmen Patrona de Rute organizes in honor of its patron saint throughout the year, are structured as follows:

It begins on February 13, on the occasion of the anniversary of the proclamation of Nuestra Señora del Carmen as patron saint of Rute by Pope Pius XI; a solemn religious function is celebrated in its Hermitage, preceded by the prayer of Holy Rosary, which in turn serves as the official presentation of the Queen and Dames of the festival.

During the Saturdays of the month of July, starting at midnight, the Hermanos de la Aurora, leaving the door of the Hermitage of Ntra. Sra. Del Carmen, walk the streets of Rute singing the typical songs collected in the Songbook of Ntra. Mrs. Del Carmen Patrona de Rute.

Generally, on the second Sunday of August, at 7 o’clock in the morning, takes place the prayer of the rosary at dawn, leaving the parish of Sta. Catalina, where the Sacred Image of the patron saint is  after the processional transfer from her Hermitage

On the 14th, 15th and 16th of July a triduum is celebrated in its Hermitage that culminates on the 16th of July onomastic of the patron with a «besamanos», a ceremony whereall participants can kiss the image of the patron saint. That same day between eight and nine o’clock in the afternoon, the Municipal Band of Rute, makes a tour of the main streets of the town, concluding it at the door of the Chapel with the interpretation of the Salve Marinera and the Hymn of Ntra. Patrona.

On the last Sunday of July, the procession of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe takes place from her hermitage, going through all the streets of her neighborhood, to the parish of Sta. Catalina, where religious acts will continue to be celebrated. Between the 5th and the 13th of August starting at nine o’clock in the evening and in the Parish of Santa Catalina, the novena is celebrated in honor of Ntra. Sra. Del Carmen Patrona de Rute.
