Child Processions in Lucena

14900 - Lucena (Córdoba)
Each year, more than a hundred thrones "Children's Processions" take the streets of Lucena, carried by children who reproduce the forms of "Santeria" Lucentina, peculiar way of carrying the thrones on the shoulder, giving a special movement to each throne, accompanied by the rhythm of the drum. Santeros, mantilla veils, brotherhood, drummers ... form a multicolored retinue, followed by thousands of spectators. The children's processions of Lucena have a remote and clear antecedent in the "preventive measures" adopted in the wake of the cholera epidemic of 1855. In 1973 the Association of Brotherhoods took the organization of a parade of children's processions, in the form of a contest, which in 1985 would become "Parade of Children's Processions before Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno (Our Father Jesus Nazareno). The children's processions pass from that year, before the chapel of Jesus Nazareno, the central image of the Holy Week in Lucena. In 1988 the group gives the organization to the Peña El Santero.
