The route of the Caliphate takes us to meet the most important cities from Córdoba to Granada. The towns of Córdoba included are: Aguilar de la Frontera, Fernán Núñez, Lucena, Montemayor and Montilla. It´s one of the Al-Andalus Routes designed by La Fundación El Legado Andalusí which links the capitals of the Al-Andalus Caliphate, Córdoba and Nasrid Al-Andalus, Granada, passing through the lands of Jaen. This road was one of the busier in the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Age. It went down by merchants from all over the world and it was the path of knowledge, sciences and arts too. The itinerary joins many towns with an important cultural and natural heritage, which were witnessed of the conflicts between Muslims and Christians. The Nasrid capital, Granada, and the Alhambra put an end to this route.
