Easter

Holy Week is a festivity of great tradition in all the Andalusian provinces. Although Almedinilla is a very small town, most of its inhabitants are very devout people who await these dates with special enthusiasm.

The holy week of Almedinilla begins on Palm Sunday, with the procession of the Borriquita where the youngest of the town have the leading role. The children are dressed in typical Hebrew clothes, while the directors of the brotherhoods, associations and authorities carry the "palms." Those responsible for organizing this procession are the sisters of the Most Holy Christ of Love.

On Holy Thursday, they make their appearance, processioning their different images, the brotherhood of the Christ of Crucified Love and the brotherhood of the Virgin of Sorrows. This procession is known as the procession of silence.

On Good Friday, the Holy Week of Almedinilla lives its maximum splendor with the procession of Jesus of Nazareno and the Virgen de los Dolores. At the end of this procession, the residents of Almedinilla contemplate in the Plaza of the Church of San Juan Bautista how the image of Jesus of Nazarene blesses the traditional "hornazos".

This week of passion culminates on Easter Sunday, with the procession of the Resurrected Jesus. Visit

Almedinilla and live the passion.
