FUENTE DE JARCAS

The trail begins in the Cabra municipality next to some water tanks about 100 m from the old railway station, now converted into the Oil Train Interpretation Centre.

The first km of the trail runs along the railway towards Lucena, reaching a bridge over which we descend to take a path parallel to a stream that is on our right, among olive trees and brambles, being able to observe some isolated areas of trees and scrub. , where we will contemplate walnut trees, fig trees, hawthorns, blackthorns, rosemary, etc.

in the km. 3 of the path we find the Fuente de los Frailes, which brings together the characteristics of the fountains in the area. Next to it is an interesting Roman quarry where stone was extracted to produce millstones. From here there is a slight ascent of 1.5 km. approximately, which culminates at the intersection with the road to the Hermitage of the Virgen de la Sierra.

At this point of the path we can see the Hermitage on the left and, closer to it, part of the Lapiaz de los Lanchares, a very spectacular limestone-type formation.

From here we begin a descent crossing the A-340 road. One km further on we find the Jarcas fountain, an inexhaustible source declared as a spring in 1958 by the Cabra Town Hall.
