Carcabuey Castle

The Carcabuey Castle has been throughout history a privileged place from a strategic and military point of view for controlling all communication routes in the Subbética region, as it was the convergence point for roads connecting five Andalusian provinces.

It rises on a rocky promontory dominating the town and giving it its name, Cerro del Castillo, where remains and traces of human occupation have been found in all historical periods, dating back at least to the Late Bronze Age, as evidenced by the discovery of a bronze sword (1200 BC) currently preserved in the British Museum in London, or a ceramic urn of the Cruz del Negro type (800 BC) found in the Historical Museum of Priego de Córdoba.
